Past President

Jennie  Chin Hansen is a prominent leader in aging, health policy, and integrated care for older adults. She is the immediate past CEO of the American Geriatrics Society, the largest professional organization dedicated to the care of older adults with complex needs. Previously, she served as President of AARP, leading its 38 million members during the creation of the Affordable Care Act.

Hansen spent nearly 25 years at On Lok, Inc., a San Francisco-based nonprofit providing comprehensive medical and community services to older adults. Under her leadership, On Lok’s model became the basis for the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), now widely adopted across 31 states to support older adults in living independently.

In public service, Hansen served as a federal commissioner on the MedicarePayment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), offering recommendations to Congress on Medicare policy. She has also served on several national boards, including the SCAN Foundation and the Altarum Institute, and contributed to shaping California’s first Master Plan for Aging. Hansen's recent involvement in the Governor’s Commission on Healthy California for All reflects her ongoing commitment to expanding healthcare access.
