Founding Story

PingCares is founded by Sean Liu. Sean immigrated to the United States at the age of 14. In the beginning, adjusting to a new language and high school culture was challenging. But the real hardship was the distance from his family in Beijing.

Throughout his life, Sean has been deeply connected to his grandparents. Watching them age gracefully has been a gift, yet he often feels a profound sense of helplessness, knowing he can't always be there to support them. The physical distance has made it difficult to stay in touch, and the onset of the COVID pandemic only intensified his concerns. This experience ignited a strong desire in Sean to create solutions that bring peace of mind to people who, like him, are far from their elderly loved ones.

With a background in Engineering, Sean recognized that technology could be a powerful tool—if it was designed with its intended users in mind. While pursuing his graduate studies at the University of Chicago, he met a group of like-minded classmates who shared his vision. Together, they set out to build a company that could enhance the safety, well-being, and connection of older adults, particularly those living far from family.

PingCares is named after Sean's grandmother, whose name in Chinese symbolizes peace and safety. Sean and his team are fortunate to work alongside a group of passionate professionals who deeply respect and honor older adults. They are also supported by a distinguished panel of advisors and investors who believe in their mission: one dedicated to empowering families to stay connected and ensuring that the elderly are cared for, no matter the distance.
